What is Respawn Anchor in Minecraft and How to Craft it?

Respawn Anchor

As part of the Minecraft 1.16 Nether update, players can now create their own respawn points in Minecraft’s inhospitable lava realm. This means that players will not need to trudge through dangerous regions or respawn at the same place each time they die in the Nether.

Respawn Anchors are a new block that allows players to set their respawn point in the Nether, essentially a Bed for this inhospitable area. To craft a Respawn Anchor, players must gather six Crying Obsidian and three Glowstone blocks.

These items can be found around the Nether or traded with Wandering traders in the Overworld. Once the materials have been gathered, they can be combined in the Crafting Table in the manner shown below.

Once the items have been placed in the correct order, the respawn anchor will appear on the Crafting Table and can be moved to your inventory.

How to Craft or Get a Respawn Anchor in Minecraft

In order to craft a Respawn Anchor you need to find some rare blocks. These blocks include crying obsidian and glowstone, which spawn naturally in clusters on ceilings and overhands in the Nether.

To craft a Respawn Anchor, you’ll need to collect six Crying Obsidian and three glowstone blocks. You can gather these blocks from portal ruins, witches, or the Nether itself.

Glowstone is a luminescent block that spawns in clusters on ceilings and overhands throughout the Nether. It’s easy to find in the overworld, but it can be hard to mine in the nether.

To craft a Respawn Anchor you’ll need to fill the crafting table with 6 Crying Obsidian and 3 glowstone blocks in the exact pattern shown above. Once you’ve done this, the Respawn Anchor will appear in the box to the right and you can move it to your inventory to use.

How to Charge a Respawn Anchor

To use a Respawn Anchor, players must first charge it with an Glowstone block. Once charged, the Respawn Anchor will function as normal and respawn players in the Nether.

The Respawn Anchor has a limit of four charges and needs to be charged every fourth usage. However, it only uses one charge each time a player respawns.

The Respawn Anchor can also be enchanted with the Silk Touch enchantment which will increase its charges by a further percentage. This can be useful if players are using the Anchor in a large area and wish to increase its range of effects.
