Sony has released a new system software update for the PlayStation 5 Pro, introducing an upgraded version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). The update brings improvements in image clarity, motion stability, and overall visual consistency across supported titles.
PSSR is Sony’s AI-powered upscaling technology that analyses each frame at the pixel level to reconstruct higher-resolution visuals. With the latest update, the system offers more precise image reconstruction, clearer fine details, and smoother motion while maintaining stable performance.
The improved technology is already being adopted by several major games, with more titles expected to support it in the coming weeks.
Silent Hill f and Silent Hill 2 Get Visual Improvements
Konami confirmed that both Silent Hill f and Silent Hill 2 will use the upgraded PSSR technology.
According to the development team behind Silent Hill f, the update significantly improves the game’s visual presentation. Environmental elements such as moving grass, shadows, and atmospheric effects now appear sharper and more detailed, further enhancing the haunting atmosphere of the game’s 1960s Japan setting.
The developers say the improvements create a smoother gameplay experience and deeper immersion for players exploring the fog-covered world.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Benefits From Better Image Quality
The update also supports large-scale RPG titles like Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Nioh 3 and Rise of the Ronin Also Receive Support
Koei Tecmo confirmed that both Nioh 3 and Rise of the Ronin will use the upgraded PSSR technology.
The update improves the rendering of environmental details such as trees, plants, and natural landscapes. According to the developers, the new system also helps maintain high-definition image quality during the fast-paced combat sequences seen in Nioh 3.
Capcom Titles Also Adopting Upgraded PSSR
Capcom has already integrated the new PSSR technology into several of its games. Titles receiving improvements include:

More Games Will Support PSSR Soon
Support for the upgraded PSSR will continue expanding. Upcoming titles and patches will bring the technology to several major games, including:

Players can also manually enable PSSR for many PS5 Pro games that already support the technology. While results may vary depending on the title, the feature often improves image stability and detail.
