The Last of Us Part 2 was one of the last major exclusive titles for the PS4. The dark action-adventure receives positive reviews without exception. Some of the fans obviously see it differently.
The Last of Us Part 2 apparently divides the community. While the latest game released by Naughty Dog on Metacritic is being praised reasonably, the user reviews clearly outweigh the poor reviews. More specifically, more than twice as many negative as positive reviews were given. The Metascore is 95 out of 100 possible points, based on currently 97 reviews. The user score, however, is just 3.9 – with currently over 31,000 negative reviews.
The reason for the many negative evaluations is supposed to be the action, which supposedly cannot keep up with the predecessor. The story was less well staged and the characters would develop in the wrong direction. Other users criticize the high level of violence in the game, which is probably higher than in the predecessor. The users have nothing to complain about in the gameplay of the video game.
However, such user reviews should not be taken too seriously for several reasons. Often it is not a matter of factual criticism, but rather reviews that were written due to negative emotions. Some players are disappointed for special reasons and simply expected something different from the game.
Neil Druckmann, vice president and creative director of Naughty Dog, is also accused of having lied about the many leaks beforehand. He claimed that some of them were wrong. The leaks that surfaced caused displeasure among the fans back in April.
In addition, The Last of Us Part 2 is generally a polarizing video game. There is still another side here that cannot understand the hype of a certain game. This part is particularly noticeable due to its considerable depiction of violence, which not every player likes. In the press, however, the game receives only positive reviews and is already titled as a masterpiece.
