Skate Story Launches December 8 on Multiple Platforms

Devolver Digital and developer Sam Eng have announced that the unique skateboarding adventure game “Skate Story” will release on December 8 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. After years of waiting, fans can finally skate through a wild underworld as a fragile glass demon on a mission to escape the Devil’s grasp.

In Skate Story, players take on the role of a demon made of delicate glass, sent by the Devil to reach the Moon for redemption. The game blends smooth skating action with exploration across nine levels of a surreal hellish world. Riders can cruise through eerie streets, tackle waxed rails, leap over dangerous gaps, and battle demons using flashy tricks like spins and flips. There are over 70 different moves to master, along with challenges that help unlock new boards, wheels, and gear to improve your skills.

The story draws from a real-life tale, slightly changed for fun, where the main character makes a deal with the Devil after a tragic accident. Along the way, players visit quirky spots like a frog-run bagel shop and face off against tough foes, all while trying not to shatter their glass body.

This indie title, first revealed in 2020, faced several delays but is now set for a full launch. A free demo is available today on Steam, letting players try out the core skating and combat right away. The game promises a fresh soundtrack by the band Blood Cultures and special features on PS5, like using the controller’s vibrations to feel the board’s movements.

Devolver Digital is known for supporting creative games with a twist, and “Skate Story” fits right in with its mix of humor, heart, and high-flying action. Pre-orders are open now, and the release comes just in time for holiday gaming.
