Pigs have been a staple in Minecraft for ages, and after more than 15 years of seeing the same familiar pink pigs, Minecraft has finally introduced two brand-new pig variants Cold and Warm Pig! Note: The two new pig variants, Cold and Warm, are currently in the beta phase and were first introduced in Minecraft Snapshot 25W02A and beta/preview version 1.21.60.25. All Pig Variants in Minecraft
Before setting out to find these new pigs, make sure to bring along some food they love: potatoes, carrots, or beetroots. You can use these items to tame and breed pigs.

1. Warm Pig
Warm Pigs are a rusty brown color with dark brown accents on their ears, noses, and legs. They thrive in warm, humid climates and spawn in the following biomes:

- Windswept Savanna

- Sparse Jungle
- Bamboo Jungle
- Eroded Badlands
- Wooded Badlands
- Badlands
2. Cold Pig
Cold Pigs, as the name suggests, are suited to snowy and chilly environments. Their fur is a furry beige texture with brown noses and feet. You’ll find them in these biomes:
- Old Growth Pine Taiga
- Old Growth Spruce Taiga
- Taiga
- Snowy Taiga
- Windswept Hills
- Windswept Gravelly Hills
- Windswept Forest
3. Temperate Pig
Temperate Pigs are the classic pink pigs we all know and love. They’re the most common pig variant and spawn in biomes that aren’t particularly warm or cold. However, you won’t find them in the Snowy Plains, Wooden Badlands, Badlands Plateau, or Meadows. Look for Temperate Pigs in these biomes:
- Forest
- Flower Forest
- Birch Forest
- Old Growth Birch Forest
- Dark Forest
- Swamp
Additionally, Temperate Pigs can often be found within fenced areas in villages.
Breeding and Genetics
One fun fact about the new pigs is how breeding works. While the variant of a pig at the time of spawning depends on the biome’s climate, the offspring of two pigs is determined by their parentage:
- If both parent pigs are the same variant, their offspring will be identical.
- If the parent pigs are different variants, the baby pig’s variant will be chosen randomly from the two parent types.
