Final Fantasy VII & Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Twin-Pack and Final Fantasy IX Switch Physical Editions Coming to North America on December 9

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Twin-Pack

Square Enix has announced that physical copies of two classic role-playing games will arrive in North America for the Nintendo Switch on December 9. These include a special Twin-Pack bundle of the remastered Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII, plus a standalone physical edition of Final Fantasy IX. Both are priced at $39.99 each and can now be pre-ordered.

The Final Fantasy VII & Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Twin-Pack puts both games on one game cartridge, so no downloads are needed. Final Fantasy VII follows a group of heroes fighting to save their world from a powerful enemy, with added features like faster gameplay speed and options to skip battles. Final Fantasy VIII tells the story of a young soldier and his friends caught in a war, with improvements like easier battles and customizable difficulty.

Final Fantasy IX, a beloved tale of a thief joining a princess on a magical journey, gets its first physical release in North America for the Switch. It includes updated visuals and controls to make the adventure smoother on the handheld console.

These physical editions were already available in Asia and Europe, but this marks their debut in North America. Fans have been waiting for tangible copies since the games launched digitally on the Switch years ago—Final Fantasy VII and VIII in 2019, and IX in 2021.

The releases come at a great time for holiday gifting, letting players enjoy these timeless stories on the go. Pre-orders are open at major retailers like Amazon, and Square Enix encourages fans to grab them soon as stock may be limited.
