PLAION has partnered with developer Pearl Abyss to handle the worldwide distribution of the physical edition of the upcoming game Crimson Desert.
Crimson Desert, an action-adventure set in the rugged yet beautiful continent of Pywel, follows Kliff, leader of the Greymanes mercenaries, as he fights to protect the land from disaster.
The game is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam in the first three months of 2026. PLAION, known for its global reach, will ensure the physical copies are available across various regions, building on its previous work with Pearl Abyss on titles like Black Desert.
Company leaders expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. PLAION’s CEO Craig McNicol highlighted the partnership’s role in expanding the company’s influence, especially in the Asia Pacific region, while Pearl Abyss’s chief business officer Kevin Kim praised PLAION’s ability to reach more fans.
However, some question whether this focus on physical distribution might delay the game further, given its history of postponements from 2024 to 2026, though no official concerns have been raised. More details about the physical release are expected later.
