Civilization VII Update 1.1.0 Released, Adds Natural Wonder and Gameplay Improvements

Civilization VII

Firaxis Games has officially released Update 1.1.0 for Civilization VII, which brings a slew of gameplay improvements, a new Natural Wonder, and a number of major updates drawn from community suggestions. The update centers on AI behavior, game balance, and quality-of-life improvements, in addition to re-enabling cross-play between consoles and PC.

New Features and Key Changes

One of the major highlights of this update is the Bermuda Triangle, an open Natural Wonder now available for all players to be discovered absolutely for free. As for Cultural Victories, expect AI leaders now to have become more efficient and competitive when going for the same. It will likely drive those Explorer Unit piles that plague maps out.

Folk who are seeking a Religious Victory can now convert Holy Cities in the Exploration Age, and Missionary Units will automatically adopt the player’s selected Religion when created.

One notable enhancement is for Naval Units, which can now release Coastal Independent Powers—a strong strategic benefit to players who do not have land units in strategic locations.

Further Gameplay Changes and Fixes

The patch also introduces some balance fixes and tweaks, such as:

  • UI improvements and fixes from community reports
  • Tweaks to the Army Unpacking activity
  • Mementos balance fixes
  • Multiplayer fixes, including friend adding improvements through 2K Accounts
  • Console players will get all the prior Update 1.0.1 Patches (1, 2, and 3), as well as the new content in Update 1.1.0

Delayed In-Game Event & Paid Expansion Content

Initially, Update 1.1.0 was intended to bring the Natural Wonder Battle, the first in-game event of the game. However, Firaxis has delayed the event to enhance the overall game experience. Further information will be disclosed once a new release date is announced.

At the same time, the first half of the paid “Crossroads of the World Collection” is also coming out with Update 1.1.0. This content is included with Deluxe and Founders Edition or can be bought separately. Access to this collection will give players:

  • New Leader: Ada Lovelace
  • New Civilizations: Great Britain (Modern Age) and Carthage (Antiquity Age)
  • Natural Wonder Pack: Adds four new Natural Wonders—Machapuchare, Mount Fuji, Vihren, and Vinicunca

With Update 1.1.0, Firaxis continues to polish Civilization VII, resolving community issues while adding content for players. The AI behavior, gameplay balance, and new features such as the Bermuda Triangle are likely to enhance both strategic depth and overall enjoyment.

Additional updates, such as the rescheduled Natural Wonder Battle event, are coming in Civilization VII’s future update 1.1.1 patches, which is set to release on March 11. Keep an eye out for further information as Firaxis continues to define the world of Civilization VII.
