Game Console has released the XF40H, a fresh retro gaming handheld designed to take on the popular Powkiddy RGB30. Priced as low as under $30 in some markets, this compact device aims to offer a budget-friendly way to play classic games with a screen that matches old-school aspect ratios perfectly.
The XF40H features a 4-inch display with a 720p resolution and a square 1:1 shape, ideal for retro titles from systems like Game Boy Advance or PlayStation 1 without black bars on the sides. It comes with a 4,000 mAh battery, promising several hours of playtime on a single charge.
The controls include dual joysticks, face buttons, and shoulder triggers stacked above the sticks, giving it a boxy look similar to the RGB30 but with buttons placed directly over the joysticks for a tighter grip.
This is Game Console’s latest effort to copy the RGB30’s success, following earlier models like the R40S and R46S. While it looks closer to the original this time, some users note the button placement might feel less comfortable during long sessions compared to the RGB30’s slightly offset design.
The XF40H runs on open-source software and supports a wide range of emulated games from classic consoles, making it easy to load your own library via memory cards.

The Powkiddy RGB30, which sells for around $50 to $60, has been a hit with its 4-inch square IPS screen, RK3566 processor for smooth gameplay, and 4,100 mAh battery offering up to 8 hours of use.
It plays games from systems like NES, SNES, and even some PS1 titles. The XF40H undercuts it on price while keeping similar specs, appealing to new buyers looking for an affordable entry into retro gaming.

Game Console positions the XF40H as a “return to roots” device for fans of portable classics. It’s available now on sites like AliExpress and Amazon, with bundles including extra memory cards.
Early reviews praise its value but suggest the build quality might not match pricier options. As the retro handheld market grows, the XF40H could shake things up for budget gamers everywhere.
